Sakhalin UK Learning Visit, 2007“I didn’t really think that it was possible for oil and gas companies to cooperate with local government and universities to improve the quality of life of communities; now I know that it can happen..”Local government official of SakhalinFrom Sunday 13th May to Wednesday 23rd May 2007, twelve visitors from Sakhalin Island (Russia) visited the UK, on a learning visit organised and coordinated by the Living Earth Foundation.

The purpose of the visit was to get first hand information about the North Sea oil and gas operations in the UK, their impacts (environmental, economic and social) and associated social-institutional dynamics; as well as to provide face-to-face opportunities to exchange ideas and views with people and organisations directly associated with managing the operations and/or impacts of the process. |
