Living Earth delivers Sustainable Development presentation to staff at Shell Russia...

In July 2009, Living Earth was invited by Shell Russia to deliver a presentation to Shell Russia and Shell Joint Venture staff about our experiences working with different sections of communities to promote sustainable development and about the importance of sustainable development within the business context.

Living Earth facilitates the final training session of its Sustainable Development Training Programme...

In May 2009, Living Earth facilitated the final training session in the Sustainable Development Training Programme in Korsakov, Sakhalin Island. The session focused on the importance of working in partnership to ensure that all stakeholders are involved in developing and delivering sustainable solutions to environmental problems.

Living Earth is interviewed for a Russian business magazine...

Roman Shinov of Living Earth Foundation was interviewed for a recent edition of a Russian business magazine: Business Capital City: Faces of Business. In the interview, Living Earth discusses the nature of its work in Russia and the role that all sectors - business, government and community - play in shaping development.

Living Earth delivers a presentation on Sustainable Development in St Petersburg...

In April 2009, Edgardo Garcia-Larralde from Living Earth gave a presentation on Sustainable Development at the Centre for Cooperation in Sustaiable Development and Environmental Management at the University of St Petersburg. The presentation formed part of an ongoing Sustainable Development course organised by the university in order to increase understanding of this important concept. The presentation focused on the need to take a holistic approach to development, integrating its social, economic and environmental aspects.

Training session on community participation held in Korsakov, Sakhalin Island...

On 31st October and 1st November 2008, Living Earth in conjunction with Sakhalin State University, delivered a training module in its 'An Introduction to Sustainable Development' training course. The two day residential training module: 'Involving People in Community Groups', was held in Okhotskoe, a resort on the east coast of Sakhalin Island, about 40km from the region's capital Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Participants gained a greater understanding of community involvement as well as being able to share their experiences and develop a stronger network and partnership ethos amongst themselves.

SSU's Sustainable Development Department enters its second year...

The Sustainable Development Department at Sakhalin State University celebrated its second anniversary on 31st October 2008. Living Earth continues to work in partnership with the department, building its capacity and collaborating on training courses for SSU staff and local government officials.


Living Earth produces Russian brochure detailing its work in Sakhalin...

Living Earth has recently published a bilingual brochure in Russian and English giving an overview of its work in Russia to date. The brochure is intended to be a useful resource for partners and interested stakeholders.

Living Earth makes a presentation at a Russian CSR conference...

In May 2008, Edgardo Garcia-Larralde of Living Earth made a presentation on 'Building Consensus for Sustainable Development' at a three day seminar in Geneva organised by the Russian Business Managers’ Association. The theme of the conference was Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development. Living Earth was the only non-Russian participant present.

Living Earth welcomes visitors from Sakhalin Island

I didn’t really think that it was possible for oil and gas companies to cooperate with local government and universities to improve the quality of life of communities; now I know that it can happen..

From Sunday 13th May to Wednesday 23rd May 2007, twelve visitors from Sakhalin Island (Russia) visited the UK, on a learning visit organised and coordinated by the Living Earth Foundation. The purpose of the visit was for the visitors to gain first hand knowledge and experience of North Sea oil and gas operations in the UK.

LEF submits paper to the conference on Sustainable Development at Sakhalin State University (5th-7th June 2007)

Living Earth were asked to write a paper entitled 'Putting Sustainable Development into Practice: Emerging Lessons from the Field' for the interregional conference on the 'Problems of Sustainable Development of the Region at the Current Stage, held at Sakhalin State University (SSU), between 5th -7th June 2007. The paper was distributed to all the delegates for discussion during the conference.

LEF signs MOU with Sakhalin State University (SSU)

LEF recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sakhalin State University (SSU), for their partnership in delivering a London Open College Network (OCN) accredited training course in sustainable development for key local government personnel in Sakhalin.
