Below is a description of the three project partners responsible for implementing the Dialogue and Development in Asalouyeh: Developing Alliances for Sustainable Development project in Iran and the role each will play in project implementation.

1. The Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE) is a research and training centre of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tehran. In the implementation of the project, the IPE will play a leading role in engaging with the oil and gas industry in Iran. The IPE has very close links to the Research and Development Division of NIOC, which will facilitate support and guidance for project implementation. In addition to its academic teaching and research functions, for the past 10 years the IPE has successfully carried out research, training, design and technical management projects for public and private oil and gas companies operating in Iran, and has developed constructive relations with government agencies, professionals and academics active in the industry. Since 2008, in collaboration with the Living Earth Foundation, the IPE has been actively promoting awareness and understanding of sustainable development issues and challenges among key stakeholders of the Iranian oil and gas industry. IPE will identify and engage relevant figures within the industry, to enhance their participation and support, regarding project activities.
2. The Centre for Sustainable Development and Environment (CENESTA) is an independent, non-commercial Iranian organisation dedicated to the conservation of biological and cultural diversity and to community-oriented practices and policies for sustainable livelihoods. It has 30 years experience working with different government departments, universities and communities in Iran, as well as in Latin America, Africa and Asia, in agro-ecology projects, community-based conservation and sustainable development, and co-management of natural resources. CENESTA will contribute its expertise in these fields to the project.
3. The Living Earth Foundation (LEF) is an independent, nonprofit, international organisation dedicated to the promotion of environmental education and sustainable development, with over 22 years experience working in diverse partnerships with local authorities, communities, civil society organisations, governments, companies, academic institutions and international organisations in Europe, Africa and Latin America. The main roles and responsibilities of LEF in the project will be to: a) share relevant international experience on the management of the effects of oil and gas operations on local communities and the natural environment; b) develop and maintain appropriate relations with international institutions, in agreement with the other two project partners, in order to secure financial support for the project from appropriate sources; and c) produce and publish in English appropriate project reports and other relevant documents, in agreement with the other two project partners.
The IPE and CENESTA will ensure that relevant project documents are correctly translated into Persian. Throughout the life of the project, the three partners will continue discussions with potential future allies and partners (from government, the oil and gas industry, the private sector, civil society, and international institutions), in order to consolidate and develop support for the project, and to enhance its impact on key stakeholder groups.
