Final report on CREMA training programme produced...

In May 2008, Living Earth submitted the final report for the Darwin Training Programme for Integrated Protected Area Management to the Darwin Initiative. The report detailed the achievements and the challenges faced by the programme, which aimed to raise awareness about Community Resource Management Areas (CREMAs) and to build the capacity of local actors to establish such areas.

Living Earth Ghana hosts National Conference in Accra...

In August 2008, Living Earth Ghana facilitated a National Conference in Accra, as part of its Darwin Training Programme. The programme was designed to build the capacity of representatives of Ghana's Wildlife Division (WD), the organisation responsible for ensuring sustainable and effective management of communities' resources.

A preparatory workshop was held at the headquarters of the Wildlife Division (WD) in March 2006 where experts from the WD. Led by its Executive Director B.Y. Ofori-Frimpong, representatives from Living Earth UK and Living Earth Ghana and the Paramount Chief for the Western Region - Awulae Annor Adjaye III - exchanged practical ideas on the implementation of the training courses that would be running during 2006.


Conservation International Workshop on the Guinean Forests of West Africa...

More than 50 experts and representatives from institutions funded by Conservation International's (CI) Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) participated in the workshop entitled ‘Assessing Five Years of CEPF Investment in the Guinean Forests of West Africa’. The meeting was held in Freetown Sierra Leone in April 2006.

LEF attended and shared the outcomes and experience of its CEPF funded environmental education programme at the Ankasa Exploration Base in the Western Region of Ghana. This project was supported by between 2004-2006.

Chevening Scholars meet LEFG Chairman...


Meeting at the British Council, Accra

Chevening scholars met the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Living Earth Foundation Ghana,  Mrs Joyce Aryee, to talk about environmental perspectives and ideas. Katherine May and Javier Alvarez from Living Earth UK also attended the meeting held in February 2006 in Accra.


Development of the Ankasa Exploration Base...

In 2006, LEFG carried out major maintenance work at the Ankasa Exploration Base, refurbishing the toilets, pathways, entrance and some of the roofing. The base is located within the Ankasa Resource Reserve and is the location of LEFG’s learning programme for local children.
