Training

Living Earth has developed a variety of training programmes, fromĀ  strengthening the capacity of local government officials to promoting alternative livelihoods.

Many of our training programmes have been accredited by the Open College Network (OCN) and combine theory and practice on a range of skills including; sustainable community development, relationship building and stakeholder dialogue.

Our ‘Leading Sustainable Development’ training programme, which is designed to build the capacity of local government, civil society and the private sector to effectively address the challenges of sustainable development, has been used to train local staff in South Africa, Russia and most recently in the Delta region of Nigeria.

Typically each programme takes place over the course of one calendar year. The courses consists of six units, equivalent to about 180 hours of learning. The delivery plan comprises of training workshops, learner support workshops, Evidence of Learning Tasks (practical assignments documented by the learner to demonstrate his/her ability to put into practice skills and knowledge acquired) and the keeping of a personal portfolio compiled by each participant continuously throughout the year.
