Living Earth is pragmatic; not campaigning.
Solutions cannot be learned from a textbook. They cannot be prescribed from the top down. Each situation is different, each is unique and each requires its own individual approach.
We work with all sectors of society to build and nurture an environment, which enables people to develop effective solutions to environmental concerns.
Rather than imposing solutions, Living Earth helps to develop people's knowledge, skills and abilities in response to their needs.
Living Earth facilitates workshops on the North Slope, Alaska as part of the Polar Pairs Programme
As part of the ongoing Polar Pairs Programme, linking schools in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and North Slope, Alaska, Living Earth coordinated workshops on the North Slope entitled Meet-U Meet-Me, facilitated by two community artists from Scotland and aided by Alistair Thomson, an art teacher from Alford Academy, Aberdeenshire, one of the school involved in the exchange. The aim of the workshops was to explore themes related to self-image and identity through the medium of the arts.
Two groups of students took part in these workshops, which was then followed by a two-day teacher workshop attended by 19 teachers from across the North Slope.
Around 200 participants from the business sector, research institutes, NGOS and governmental authorities are expected to attend this two day conference. Day one will explore business opportunities and business risks related to the use and conservation of natural resources and biodiversity. Day two will focus on tools and practical examples in relation to the implementation of corporate biodiversity management.
